Syllogist is led by Shaun McCance. Shaun has over eight years of experience as a writer, programmer, and community leader. A well-known open source documentation leader, he spearheads the Gnome documentation team and maintains many of the programs that make Gnome documentation work, including the help viewer application and the documentation build tools used throughout Gnome.

Shaun created Blip, an automated software and documentation tracker which can be adapted to different frameworks and tool sets. He also created Mallard, a topic-oriented documentation format that is expressly designed to meet the unique challenges faced by open communities of documentation contributors.

His ongoing experience in Gnome and with other open source groups gives him a unique perspective on documentation and user communities.

In the commercial sector, Shaun worked as a documentation programmer and supervisor for Wolfram Research, a company lauded for its excellent documentation, reference information, and user communities. He created the tools that build the in-product documentation and many of Wolfram's reference sites, all from single-source Mathematica notebooks.
